Venice, Biennale Arte 2022: "the milk of dreams"

Coordinated by Cecilia Alemani, who is a curator with a large number of exhibitions on contemporary artists, manager and chief curator of High Line Art, the public art program of the High Line, New York's elevated municipal park, also former curator of the Italian Pavilion at the Biennale Arte 2017. Cecilia Alemani: “As the first Italian woman to take this position, I intend to emphasize female and male artists to create unique projects that reflect their visions and our society. The milk of dreams aspires to be an optimistic exhibition, which celebrates art and its ability to create alternative cosmologies and new conditions of existence."

The Exhibition will be accompanied by 80 National Participations in the historic Pavilions in the Giardini, the Arsenale and in the historic center of Venice. There are 5 countries present for the first time at the Art Biennale: the Republic of Cameroon, Nepal, Namibia, Uganda and the Sultanate of Oman. The International Exhibition is divided between the Central Pavilion in the Giardini and the Arsenale, including 213 artists from 58 countries. Over 30 events in the city including exhibitions and initiatives promoted by international bodies and institutions that enrich the panorama of the 59th Venice International Art Exhibition.

The 59th International Art Exhibition is entitled "The milk of dreams". The exhibition takes its name from a book by Leonora Carrington in which, as Cecilia Alemani explains, "the surrealist artist describes a magical world in which life is constantly reinvented through the prism of the imagination and in which it is allowed to change, transform, become others by themselves. The exhibition proposes an imaginary journey through the metamorphosis of the bodies and definitions of the human ".
